Litigation Attorney

Hudson Valley / New York Metropolitan Area (Hybrid)

We are seeking a recently admitted attorney or early-career lawyer interested in developing a litigation practice with the opportunity to develop effective courtroom skills.
This position is well-suited to a lawyer who wants substantive responsibility, meaningful mentorship, and regular courtroom exposure, with the goal of becoming a skilled trial attorney.

Practice Areas Include

  • Medical malpractice defense
  • Premises liability, construction and other complex civil litigation
  • Defense of licensed professionals in disciplinary proceedings
  • Guardianship and mental-health–related proceedings
  • Related trial-level matters in state and federal courts

Responsibilities

  • Legal research and motion practice
  • Drafting pleadings, memoranda, and discovery
  • Participation in depositions, hearings, and court conferences
  • Appearances in courts throughout the Hudson Valley and New York metropolitan area
  • Working directly with experienced litigators on matters from inception through resolution
  • Independently manage a litigation caseload, working on matters from pleadings up to and including trial 
  • Effectively communicate with and counsel clients 

Qualifications

  • Admitted to practice in New York (or pending admission)
  • Excellent legal research and writing skills
  • Sound judgment and professionalism
  • Comfort with appearing in court and interacting with judges and opposing counsel
  • Strong work ethic and intellectual curiosity
  • Excellent oral advocacy and written communication skills
  • Spanish fluency is a plus.
  • Experience in a health profession preferred.

Work Environment

  • Hybrid/remote-forward practice
  • Collegial team, with mentoring
  • Office space available but not required for daily work
  • In-person court appearances, depositions and client/witness meetings required as cases demand
