Leilani Rodriguez of Sholes Miller Rodriguez & Brown, PLLC attended this year’s SOMOS Conference in San Juan, Puerto Rico. SOMOS brings together New York State and City elected officials, policymakers, and legal professionals to engage in substantive discussions on high-level political and policy issues affecting New York’s Latino communities. The conference featured workshops and panel discussions focused on forthcoming legislative changes and critical policy initiatives impacting New York.
This year’s conference also provided members of the Puerto Rican Bar Association of New York, of which Ms. Rodriguez serves as Vice President, with the opportunity to meet and collaborate with attorneys from the Colegio de Abogados y Abogadas de Puerto Rico—the Puerto Rico Bar Association founded in 1840. The experience was both invigorating and meaningful, reinforcing the importance of continued advocacy and engagement. The work and dialogue will carry forward here in New York.
